About The Units

We’re Ralph and Carol Lynn Rivera, a husband-wife team in life, in business, and on the air. We’ve been together since 1989, married since 1997 and podcasting since 2014.

We never seem to run out of things to say or topics to disagree on (ok, we also agree on a whole lot, too, but that’s not nearly as interesting). We love to take a topic and get to the heart of it without any of the clichés about business that can get tired after a while, like “How I Made My First Million” or “The Secrets To My Success” or anything equally overdone.

We love fan mail and even hate mail can be fun sometimes, but mostly we like fan mail… so if you want to share an idea, ask a question or just hang out and chat, we welcome you! Connect with us any time, any way.

We hope you’ll enjoy the journey with us!

Meet The Carbon Based Business Units

Ralph is a builder of awesome things. He is a developer and programmer who is CTO of multiple companies, including Podcaster’s Toolbox.

In addition to co-hosting Carbon Based Business Units with Carol Lynn, he was also co-host of the now retired Web.Search.Social Podcast and co-host of the soon to be released This Podcast Life. If you’ve got a few hours, ask him about “refactoring code.” You won’t be disappointed.

In his spare time Ralph loves guitar, reading, and gaming. He’s a Doctor Who fan, sci-fi geek and budding cocktail connoisseur. Give him a good cigar and a smooth whiskey, and Ralph is in his happy place.

Carol Lynn is business and project manager of the multiple ventures she runs with Ralph, and makes a lot of decisions, like what has to happen and who needs to do it and whether or not there’s enough mayo to make chicken salad for lunch.

She is co-host with Ralph on their multiple podcasts, too. She is also the writer behind things like show notes, web pages and emails, and will occasionally try to be funny. It’s up to you to decide how successful she is.

In her spare time Carol Lynn enjoys reading, writing and collecting seashells. She also loves Doctor Who (even the Christopher Eccleston version) and Hello Kitty. Carol Lynn finds her happy place with a cigar and a dry port.
